Anna's Hummingbird
In the record-breaking cold of January 2022, this little hummer was snapped on Rod Baker's feeder in Kelvin Grove. Residents scrambled to keep nectar from freezing by cleverly heating feeders or swapping them out frequently as temperatures remained below freezing for an unusually lengthy period.
Snow Goose
"Ryan Gosling" was seen wandering around Brunswick Beach and Lions Bay Beach Park in 2021 after his flock had migrated. Clearly in need of help, he was taken to Wildlife Rescue in Burnaby for treatment and rehab. Photo by Vikki Dee.
